Since 1923

Three generations
at one bench.

A hundred years of the same idea: personal service, good value, and professional integrity — from one Grand Rapids family.

The story

From a dollar down
to a hundred years.

  1. 1923

    Bert goes it alone.

Young Bert Vandenberg declines to buy into an established Grand Rapids jewelry store and chooses to start his own. Through the Depression he offers credit — “a dollar down and a dollar a week.”

  2. Second generation

    Don, Charles & Roy.

Bert’s sons join the business, following his road map while adding a stamp of their own — bringing in then-little-known Rolex watches and moving the store downtown as it grows city-wide.

  3. Today

    Chuck Jr. & Greg.

Charles’s sons — both trained metalsmiths — carry on the tradition of personal service, good value and professional integrity that the Vandenberg Customer Family has come to expect.
